BA (Hons), CMT, NMT
I have been working in private practice for the last eight years. I integrate physical medicine, nutritional medicine and lifestyle medicine for the management and treatment of acute and chronic health conditions. I often also collaborate with primary care teams and utilise direct patient referrals when necessary. I have specific expertise in working with gastrointestinal dysfunctional, neurological health, CFS/M.E., Fibromyalgia and chronic health conditions. Outside of my private practice I work as a consultant clinical nutritionist at a residential trauma clinic in Oxford. I completed my clinical training at the Mapleton Centre for Orthopaedic & Neurological Rehabilitation, The Boulder Centre for Sports Medicine and Colorado University Sports Medicine. My primary training is in neuromuscular therapy & rehabilitation, visceral manipulation and soft tissue orthopaedics (CMT). I hold a PG.Dip in Clinical Nutrition, a PG.Cert in Personalised Nutrition and continue post graduate education in somatic psychology whilst finishing my research based Nutrition MSc with Middlesex University. I have worked as editor and authored numerous articles for SportEX journal; contributed to the British Mountaineering Magazine (SUMMIT) and taught post graduate education programs in clinical kinesiology, advanced myofascial release and nutrition in cancer care. A full academic and employment transcript is available on request.
Clinical nutrition involves a systematic review of your diet, blood markers, hormone levels, gut function and general health, while taking into consideration your systems biology, environmental lifestyle and genetic dispositions. It can be used to support and treat complex health conditions and common complaints as well as maintain health. Patients include those with Multiple Sclerosis, Adrenal Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, IBS, Heart Disease, Eczema, Dermatitis, Polycystic Ovaries, Infertility, Anxiety Disorders and Depression.
Clinical laboratory services in the area of nutrients, toxicants, allergies, hormonal balance, biotransformation and detoxification, gastrointestinal function, and the microbiome are often used. Testing allows us access key unique patient health status to custom tailor nutritional therapies, detoxification programs, and other lifestyle changes for the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of complex chronic disease.
Laboratory guidance alongside specific health goals will determine lifestyle and environmental changes as well as the clinical use of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and specialised diets – which can be a powerful tool.
