Traditional Acupuncture & Holistic Bodywork

Ania offers treatments in Traditional Acupuncture and Therapeutic Bodywork. Her aim is to work with individuals in a nurturing and holistic manner to help them find ease, balance and freedom in their body, mind and spirit.

From 2004, Ania studied Acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading (www.acupuncturecollege.org.uk), where she gained a first class BSc(hons) degree. Her 3.5 year training brought together the profound ideas of yin/yang theory (using Traditional Chinese Medicine) and the Five Elements (using Five Element constitutional diagnosis). Ania uses this ancient wisdom to treat a range of conditions and to naturally restore, promote and maintain good health and wellbeing.

Ania is also an experienced bodywork practitioner. She studied Holistic Massage at the Academy of Natural Health in London in 2002 (www.massage.org.uk), gaining a diploma from the International Therapy Examination Council as well as the Massage Training Institute. She has since trained in myofascial release and clinical massage with JING, the UK’s foremost institute for advanced massage training (www.jingmassage.com). Ania is committed to ongoing professional development and has completed various other post-graduate courses, including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, craniosacral therapy techniques, abdominal and visceral massage, pregnancy massage, holistic pulsing, ayurvedic massage, Indian head massage, reiki healing levels I & II and counselling skills.

Before pursuing her career in alternative medicine, Ania obtained a BA(hons) in nursing and worked within specialist fields of children’s surgery. Ania has also been a dedicated yoga practitioner for over fifteen years. Her yoga and meditation practice and her study with world-class teachers continue to inspire and inform her work with clients.

Ania is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Massage Training Institute. She is bound by Codes of Ethics and Safe Practice and uses procedures approved by the Department of Health.

Treatments
Traditional Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of healing based on over 2,500 years of development and refinement in the Far East. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy - known as qi - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin. The flow of qi can be disturbed by many physical, mental and emotional factors.

A thorough consultation, together with pulse diagnosis and assessment of your tongue, allows your individual underlying patterns of disharmony to be identified. A personalised treatment plan is then established. By inserting very fine needles into the channels of energy, the body's own healing response is stimulated, helping to restore a natural balance.

Clinical research continues to demonstrate the effectiveness of traditional acupuncture in treating a wide range of illnesses. Acupuncture is as much about the maintenance of health as the management of disease, and the benefits frequently include more than just relief from a particular condition. Many people find that it can also lead to an enhanced sense of overall wellbeing and vitality.

Therapeutic Bodywork
Holism from the Greek ’whole’ understands a person as an interconnected physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. Therapeutic bodywork uses an holistic approach to resolve pain and allow the body to release tension and strain, balance energy flow and increase vitality.

Pre-treatment consultation establishes your individual needs. A range of strokes, pressures and movements are blended to create a unique treatment for you. The experience can be soothing, stimulating, releasing or nurturing according to your needs. Using firm but sensitive pressure, Ania’s bodywork is deeply relaxing and allows you space to reconnect with yourself.

Testimonials
“Ania’s warm manner, thorough interview and listening skills and her innate ability to accurately diagnose and treat, all combine to create a comprehensive healing and balancing environment for the client. I would unhesitatingly recommend her acupuncture services.” Shelly, SOMA Practitioner.

“Massage with Ania is always nurturing and sensitive to your needs - be it a pick-me-up or a calm-me-down or easing out sore muscles. I always leave feeling utterly relaxed, rebalanced and renewed.” Sarah, Teacher.

“Ania is a unique therapist with a true gift. Every session is different, and I am immensely grateful for the profound emotional, spiritual and material changes that have resulted from this beautiful and mysterious process of Ania's treatment over the last few years.” Mohamed, Development Consultant.

“Ania has a way of listening beyond words, so that you feel she's already beginning to get a sense of you from the start. And her reaction is one of acceptance and compassion. For me this is what has unlocked everything: if we can feel understood even before we start speaking, then what follows is the truth, and having the space - and time - to tell our truth and be heard is healing enough. Ania reminds me that it's okay to slow down, to indulge a little, to give yourself the appraisal that you need". Gabriela, Writer. www.thesenseofajourney.com
